HELLO! I'M Sarah Mae

How many times have you thought to yourself, I wish they taught me this in school?

As a High School Teacher, I always felt that there was not enough time to teach essential non-academic skills.

And I know there is a massive disconnect between college and the experience needed for working and balancing life. What’s more, we often find ourselves on a path we didn’t intend to be on and wondering how the heck we are going to course correct.

So now, as a Certified Human Potential Coach, I combine Life Coaching and Teaching to help bridge the gap between the WHAT and the HOW.

I’ve been there. I too have travelled down the wrong path for me and I can assure you that wherever you are now, there is plenty of time to get to where you want to be.

When I was 16, I moved out on my own and finished high school by the skin of my teeth while working full time to support myself.

I had big dreams of becoming a famous interior designer with my own TV show. I wanted to spend my days wearing business suits and sharing design stories with the public.

But things didn’t go that way.

In my twenties, after a series of rejections based on “inexperience”, I found myself working in childcare.

Always wanting to progress up, I remember asking my dad if I should be a teacher (logical progression up from childcare) or a “high flying businesswoman”.

His well-intentioned advice was that if I wanted a family one day, then teaching would give me more free time (ha!) and be a more secure job. Isn't it interesting how one conversation can shape our lives so much?

A few years later, while I was living in Scotland, I was hit on the driver’s side by a Ford Transit Van as I was making a turn. The car was completely totaled, and I woke in the hospital lucky to be alive, with a severe concussion, some fractured ribs, and a fractured pelvis.

It took 3 months for me to be able to walk and go back to work, and probably about 10 years for me to fully recover from the concussion.

The crash was the catalyst I needed to switch career directions, as I knew in my heart that I never really wanted to work with children.

I got a job selling distance learning courses to adults. I nailed that interview and was so excited to be moving out of childcare. Yet, the excitement was short lived as my Bully Brain started to get in the way.

Do you have a Bully Brain too?

You know, that Bully in your head always telling you you’re not good enough?

Well, mine surfaced with the full support of my dad’s old advice that teaching would be a “secure” job.

It was 2010 and I was moving back to Canada to do my undergrad while seriously waffling back and forth between teacher or entrepreneur.

I was so close to enrolling in a Computer Science and Marketing degree. However, at the last minute my Bully Brain won and I chose teaching as the safer route.

A couple years later I found myself stuck in a teaching career that I was amazing at, and enjoyed for the most part, but was not fulfilled in.

Are you finding yourself in the same unfulfilled situation?

Are you wondering how to get back on track?

Shortly after I started my career as a high school teacher, I decided to take an acting class at Actorium Training Centre. I wanted to feel more comfortable talking to large groups of students and, having won a Toastmasters competition when I was 12, I had always felt that I was meant to get up on stages and inspire people.

It was in these “Acting for the Supernaturally Shy” classes that I first learned how to enjoy “the process”.

Up until then I had spent my whole life worrying about being "good", or what the end result would be, and never really allowed myself time to be a beginner.

Acting has taught me more about who I am, who I want to be, and how to shift my mindset, than anything else I have ever done. It was here that I started to find my voice and realize my limiting beliefs.

But there was still a missing piece…

Back then I remember my brain was foggy all the time. I would hit the snooze button about 5 times before getting out of bed to drag myself through the day. It was not until I started contemplating doing a Master’s in Psychology while working full time and pursuing acting, that I began to question why I was so tired all the time.

Up until then it just felt normal. I thought, isn't everyone tired all the time?

Worried that I would not have enough energy to do all the things, I started researching what successful people do to get more done. I mean, if they can be tired all the time and be so successful, what is their secret? I quickly realized being tired all the time is NOT normal and that I had to work on my nutrition. I hated cooking and found eating to be such a chore. I did my research and completed a Mindvalley program called WildFit. Through the program I adapted my lifestyle by removing dairy, grains, processed food, and refined sugars.

The immediate changes in my energy and productivity levels BLEW me away.

Seriously, I had MORE ENERGY than I had EVER had in my life.

Not only that, but I was building other healthy habits and routines. I started meditating every day, reconnecting with the practice that I began as a tween, when I was heavily into personal development and an avid reader of Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul books.

I dove into researching habit creation, mindset, positive psychology, flow states, neurobiology, and biohacking. I enrolled on a course to become a Certified Human Potential coach and started sharing my knowledge with my students.

It made sense in my Career Education classes, but I tried to teach it to my Social Studies students as well. To me these are the skills teenagers need more than anything. However, there is just not enough time and resources to teach non-academic skills effectively within the school system.

Then COVID hit. I got surplussed from my contracted teaching position and added to the full-time on-call list right at the start of the pandemic. At the same time I was seeing people losing their jobs, not knowing how to manage their stress, and struggling to maintain their health and wellbeing at home.

In contrast, thanks to my research and our lifestyle changes, my husband and I were healthier than we had ever been before.

I knew then that I had to help.

That is why I am here, finally on a path that I want to be on, and I have never been happier.

Just like you, I have found myself years into a career feeling dissatisfied, stuck, and unfulfilled.

It is my mission to help unfulfilled professionals take control of their life so they can live totally aligned with their purpose, values, and passions.

I help clients build healthy habits, overcome their Bully Brain, and create a Genuine Personal Success Plan so they can Rise to their Peak Potential with all the skills, motivation, and clarity they need to move forward and create the life balance and success they know in their hearts they deserve.

  • To have a MINDSET that is not controlled by a Bully Brain telling me what I can and cannot do.
  • To have routines and HABITS that give me so much energy and time to live my potential.
  • To have the FREEDOM to do what I want, when I want, where I want, and with whom I want.
  • To have the physical and mental LONGEVITY to enjoy it all.
  • To wake up every day to an AMAZING view from my beautiful home.
  • To have a PASSIONATE love affair with my husband (10 years and going strong!).
  • To go on ADVENTURES with friends and travel often.
  • To spend regular QUALITY TIME with family.
  • To be FILLED from my day rather than drained by it.
  • To build a COMMUNITY that gives people a sense of BELONGING.
  • To improve lives and MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE.

This is my Life Vision and I am living it, or well on my way to living it, every day.

Let's get you on track too!

Don’t let your Bully Brain convince you to procrastinate any longer or tell you that you are not “x, y, or z” enough to create your heart’s success. You are more than enough, and the time is now.
